Membership Application Information
and Renewal

Membership Requirements:

Proof of direct descent from Pilgrim Henry Samson or Abraham Sampson, or an interest in Pilgrim Henry Samson and/or Abraham Sampson and their descendants, or an interest in supporting the future success of the Pilgrim Henry Samson Kindred.

Application Procedure:

Every applicant shall file a fully completed Membership Application with the Kindred Genealogist accompanied with the following Application Fee. For Membership or Application questions, please contact the Kindred Genealogist, Marti Bobertz.

Individuals who have previous filed a lineage application for descent from Pilgrim Henry Samson to the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD) in 1983 or later may submit a photocopy of said GSMD approved papers that bear the signature of the GSMD Historian General. The completed Worksheet and documentation, or photocopy of GSMD approved papers, shall be sent to the Henry Samson Kindred Genealogist at the address provided on the application. The above Application Fee must accompany the original Membership Application.

Applicants will be notified of their acceptance as members by the Kindred Genealogist.
New members shall be provided with an appropriate Certificate of Membership by the Kindred Membership Administrator.

Member Categories, Documentation Requirements and Application Fees

Active Member: If you are a member of GSMD and have documentation showing your descendancy from Henry Samson and can provide an application signed by the GSMD Historian General, or you can provide a proven descendancy from Abraham Sampson, you are eligible for Active Membership in the Pilgrim Henry Samson Kindred. Active members are eligible to serve as officers, and have all voting privileges. When you apply for membership, there is a onetime fee of $35 USD that must accompany the application form. In the following year Active Members shall begin to pay yearly dues.

Junior Member: Any person under the age of eighteen years (18) years of age may be awarded an undocumented membership through an application submitted by a family member of the Kindred who has already been admitted to membership and whose membership is current. Junior members are not eligible to serve on the Board of Assistants, but may serve on one of the committees. When you apply for membership, there is a onetime fee of $25 USD that lasts until the age of 18, and must accompany the application form. Full membership is available to Junior members at age 18, which will require a $35 application fee, and subsequent yearly dues.

Associate Member: Any person over the age of eighteen years (18) years of age, irrespective of being descendant of Henry Samson or Abraham Sampson, is eligible to become an Associate Member in the Pilgrim Henry Samson Kindred. Associate Members are eligible to serve on all committees and to vote, but cannot serve as an officer. When you apply for membership, there is a onetime fee of $35 USD that must accompany the application form. In the following year Associate Members shall begin to pay yearly dues.

Associate Junior Member. Any person under the age of eighteen years (18) years of age, irrespective of being descendant of Henry Samson or Abraham Sampson, is eligible to become an Associate Junior Member in the Pilgrim Henry Samson Kindred. Associate Junior Members may neither vote nor serve on the Board of Assistants, however they may be appointed to one of the various Committees. When you apply for membership, there is a onetime fee of $25 USD that lasts until the age of 18, and must accompany the application form.

To apply for new membership: complete the PHSK application, be sure to sign it, and mail it to the Kindred Genealogist using the address given on the application. Include a check for applicable Fee, made payable to "The Pilgrim Henry Samson Kindred".
